R&M Land:
The land currently known as Farsight R&M Development was originally owned by R&M Homes, a local home developer who built most of Everett, north of Main Street. This land immediately north of the village was to be developed for approximately 475 homes on 60-70 feet lots, in a similar style as the homes are on Pine Park Blvd, Columbus Lane and Fisher Drive.
Due to family issues, R&M Homes folded and sold this parcel of land to Farsight Development in the mid-2000's. Farsight didn't immediately move forward with project, as they wanted to increase the number of homes to be built from the original 475. Initially the Township and many residents (including myself ) were opposed to this, however, the Developer appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and managed to increase the number of homes by 40%, to 665. This was subsequently approved by the Council of the day in 2016. The approval was captured and ratified in By-Law # 16-26, dated July 11, 2016. From that point forward, the developer had the "green light" to proceed.

BARZO Land:
The Barzo land was purchased by the Developer in the mid-2010's. It is located immediately north of the R&M Land. This land was owned by a local family (The Barzo's) and currently (pre-development stage) is functioning as a farm.
The original plans for the Barzo Land was to build approximately 750 homes, as an extension to the 665 slated for the R&M Land. However, as with the R&M Land, the Developer wanted to build more homes to further their profit.
As a councilor for Ward 4, I have been opposing this expansion from day-1 and early in the Term, managed to move forward an initiative where the current Council rejected Farsigth's proposal of 1,238 homes (a whopping 65% increase over the original plan!)
However, just like in the case of R&M Land, the Developer appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal and asked for the 1,238 PLUS an additional 15% more homes: a total of 1,400+ homes. Not surprisingly, the OLT again ruled in favor of the developer and approved the new number of 1,400+.

So at this point, we are looking at a total of 2,000+ homes to be built by FARSIGHT in Everett.
